Choosing the right vehicle means considering what it offers and whether it meets expectations. Many drivers continually look to the SUV as their primary vehicle of choice. In a perfect world, an SUV would provide substantial fuel economy, exhibit style, and features to protect you and keep you connected on the road. An ideal SUV should also offer plenty of seating and storage to bolster its practical aspects, which have always been popular among many. The good news is that such an SUV exists: the 2025 Hyundai Tucson.

At Hyundai of Union County, we consider ourselves much more than just a Hyundai dealer. We strive to provide our customers with helpful information when choosing the right vehicle for them. The 2025 Hyundai Tucson checks all of the boxes regarding consumer needs. It has a powertrain that provides exceptional fuel economy, plenty of room for a comfortable journey with room for storage, and features that inform, entertain, and protect you. This buying guide we've put together highlights some advantages that a 2025 Hyundai Tucson offers.

Performance and Fuel Economy

A major concern among consumers is having an SUV that provides the vehicle class's advantages while being fairly conservative with fuel consumption. The price of fuel might be unpredictable, but the performance of both powertrains and their capability to save money at the pump are not. The 2025 Hyundai Tucson has three unique versions: a traditional gas-powered model, a hybrid setup, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Depending on your predilection for performance or economy, there's a version of the SUV that will perfectly align with your wants and needs.

The gas engine consists of a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that produces 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission for optimum performance, including a 2,000-lb towing capacity. This version of the Tucson comes standard with FWD, but AWD is available. Testing from the EPA has been favorable for the Tucson's gas engine, with the SUV achieving 25 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway for a combined total of 28 MPG. The EPA also estimates a range of 400 miles on a full tank.

The hybrid and PHEV versions of the Hyundai Tucson offer more performance and improved fuel economy when compared to their gas counterpart. The hybrid and PHEV versions are powered by a turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engine that mates with a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid pairs its engine with a 64 kW battery, producing 231 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. THE PHEV version of the Tucson has a more potent 88 kW battery that increases its horsepower to 268 hp.

The Tucson hybrid and PHEV versions are AWD-exclusive and offer exceptional fuel economy. The Tucson hybrid achieves 35 MPG in city, highway, and combined driving and also provides a range of 480 miles on a full tank. While EPA numbers are not out for the 2025 PHEV Tucson, it is safe to assume that the numbers will be similar to the 2024 model, which gets up to 80 MPGe in combined city and highway driving, which is quite impressive.

An Interior With All the Trimmings

In addition to its stylish exterior design, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson boasts an interior that is both practical and sophisticated. Many consumers enjoy the benefits of the SUV class, especially storage and seating, which the Tucson offers. The modern driver looks for an interior that keeps them connected, entertained, and informed on their travels. If the performance of the Hyundai Tucson piqued your interest, the interior design might just seal the deal regarding the choice of your next vehicle purchase.

The Hyundai Tucson seats up to five passengers, ideal for family-oriented and average commuters. Except for the base trim, all versions of the Tucson come with an eight-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support and heated front seats. The Limited trim gets the best in seating arrangements with leather-trimmed upholstery, ventilation, and an integrated memory system to personalize your comfort setting completely. Most trims have a Dual Automatic Temperature Control, and upper trims have a voice-activated system that combines technology and comfort.

Staying connected with apps and technologies is crucial in an increasingly digital world. Drivers who choose the Hyundai Tucson for their next vehicle will have the means to stay connected and informed regardless of where they go. Accessing these apps and technologies is possible through the Tucson's infotainment screen. All versions of Hyundai's SUV come with a 12.3-inch screen that includes available wireless compatibility with Apple and Android products (depending on the trim), SiriusXM, and HD Radio. Hyundai's infotainment setup also includes over-the-air updates, ensuring drivers always have the latest version at their disposal.

The screen size is the same for all versions of the Tucson. Still, upper trims benefit from onboard navigation, dynamic voice recognition, and mapping software that receives over-the-air updates. Lower trims of the Tucson come with a six-speaker stereo system for enriched audio quality. Audiophiles seeking out one of the upper trims of the Tucson gain a high-end stereo system from Bose with eight speakers and an amplifier.

There's also a fair amount of practicality that comes with the SUV, especially regarding cargo room. When all five seats in the gas and hybrid version of the Tucson are occupied, the SUV offers 41.2 cu.ft. of storage capacity, almost triple the trunk size of a four-door sedan (15 cu.ft.) The PHEV version of the Tucson doubles the average trunk size of a sedan, with both rows of seats occupied with 31.9 cu.ft. of space. When storage takes precedence over seats, the gas version of the Tucson has 80.3 cu.ft. of available storage, and the hybrid offers 80 cu.ft. While providing the best fuel economy, the PHEV has the lowest available storage space with 71.8 cu.ft.

Driving Assistance and Safety

For many drivers, the deciding factor in purchasing a vehicle is its safety. Hyundai has always emphasized developing technologies that provide protection and oversight and making more of them standard than the competition. All versions of the Hyundai Tucson come equipped with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, which is crucial in having oversight regarding your surroundings and maintaining a suitable reaction time. Other items included on all trims are Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Lane Keeping and Following Assist. The Tucson also comes standard with a Driver Attention Warning.

Some advanced items on the Tucson's upper trims include navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Curve Control, Blind-Spot and Surround View Monitor systems, and Parking Distance Warning and Collision-Avoidance Assist. In addition to the advanced technologies that are both standard and available on the Hyundai Tucson, the vehicle was also awarded a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and named a "Top Safety Pick+" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
